Registered Dietitians are highly trained healthcare professionals that are licensed to assess, diagnose and treat nutritional concerns. Dietitians work closely with you to help translate the complex science of nutrition into practical healthy eating solutions for you and your family.
Registered Dietitians will discuss mental and physical barriers to nutritional changes and help frame manageable, timely and achievable goals. Registered Dietitians help individuals to achieve optimal nutritional status through nutritional counseling, meal planning, and dietary supplementation. Whether your focus is on weight loss, weight gain, sports nutrition, chronic disease, or if you are simply looking for recipes to keep the family energized, a Registered Dietitian can provide you with the expertise and accountability. Knowledge is power – the more you know about your nutritional needs, the more equipped you are to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Registered Dietitians have completed, at minimum, a four-year accredited undergraduate program in food and nutrition and a supervised practical internship. All Registered Dietitians in Ontario must pass the Canadian Dietetics Registration Examination. Registered Dietitians are registered and regulated by the College of Dietitians of Ontario.

At CCH, our Registered Dietitian works closely with our Naturopathic Doctors to determine and co-manage nutritional treatments, including prescribing a particular therapeutic diet to best address the patient’s concerns, developing a meal plan based on this diet, and ensuring quality supplementation as needed for optimizing health outcomes. Other healthcare providers may also be consulted with, including Functional Medicine, Psychotherapy and Chiropractic Medicine for co-managing the patient using a collaborative and whole systems approach.
Approximately, 1 in 10 Canadians sought the expertise of a Registered Dietitian for food and nutrition advice in the last year. Registered Dietitians are a regulated health profession, recognized by statute in all Canadian provinces. Most extended healthcare plans will cover the fees of seeing a Registered Dietitian.
